Episode 6: Sueki and Coach (Stubborn Shih Tzu and One Last Chance)

Name: Sueki
Owners: Eula Manocchi and Anthan Manocchi

Dog Behavior Problems: Sueki does not want to walk on leash (See: Leash Training a Puppy). When they try to put a leash on Sueki, she will shut down, sits down and does not move.

Dog Behavior Modification: When talking to them, Cesar Millan find that Sueki is only uncomfortable with the leash. Cesar takes Sueki outside, walks a distance away from their home to get away from her owners and home environment. Cesar sees that Sueki is waving her tail means that she is happy and he puts a new leash on her. He allows her to stand and Sueki does not shut herself down. Cesar Millan finds that when he taps her back, Sueki will walk. Sueki slowly walks herself home. Soon Cesar gives the leash to Eula to practice and shows her how to use her own calm energy to calm Sueki and associate the leash with something positive.

Owners: Stella and John Albert

Dog Behavior Problems: Coach is very aggressive toward people who come near their door. He was once escaped from the house and chased and scared a neighbor. Coach has a nervous disorder and is almost ready to put to sleep.

Dog Behavior Modification: When talking with Cesar Millan, Stella and John realize that they have been rewarding the behavior that they want to stop. When Cesar meets with Coach, he find that Coach is in calm submissive and is not a dangerous dog. Harry is just a dog that is bored and he needs exercise and discipline. He advises them to take Coach for a long walk daily. Cesar shows them how to walk with Boxer in calm-submissive way. After 2 weeks, Cesar Millan comes back and finds that Coach does great on walks. This time, they work on Coach's jumping on the fence gate when people go by. Cesar has one of his own dogs, a Pit Bull named Daddy act as the trigger, while Cesar works with Coach on the other side of the fence. Coach responds very quickly to the training.


Episode 7: Slick and Pepper (Pampered Puli and Picture Perfect Pepper)

Name: Slick
Owners: Michael Seligman and Teresa Cusick

Dog Behavior Problems: Slick is fearful of children and other dogs. When he is in a dog park, he shows insecurity and aggressive towards other dogs (See: Dog to Dog Aggression).

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan teaches Michael and Teresa about the timing to give affection to Slick without nurturing unwanted behavior. Cesar further suggests them to bring Slick visit his Dog Psychology Center in South Los Angeles to give Cesar a chance to evaluate Slick's behavior and how they interact with him. Slick has to interact with 37 dogs and he some insecurity in the beginning and Cesar teaches them to correct Slick when he shows some aggressive sign. Slick learns to be comfortable with all the dogs just in a very short while.

Name: Pepper
Owners: Chris Nelson and Scott Smith

Dog Behavior Problems: Chris, who is a photographer, brings his dog Pepper to his studio daily. Chris does not know how to stop his dog barking behavior. Pepper always barks and charges at clients that enter the studio. Chris scares that she will bite somebody one day. Outside the studio, Pepper is very well-behaved and able to walk without a leash. So, Pepper is dominant and aggressive in her territory which is inside the studio while outside, Chris is taking the control.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan asks a friend to simulate as a client and watches how Chris does to control Pepper. Cesar corrects Chris by showing him to correct Pepper with the command "Shhhh" at the moment Pepper shows the barking behavior and asks Chris to answer the door only when Pepper has calm down. Chris needs to become the pack leader and makes Pepper to be submissive to him.


Episode 8: Gus and Ava (Bouncing Bouvier and Twirling Dog)

Owners: Tedd Rosenfeld and Shellie Yaseen

Dog Behavior Problems: Gus is a high energy herding breed that is very friendly and likes to jump up on people. Since Gus is quite big size, Tedd scared that Guss will knock out people and hurt someone in future. So, he requested help from Ceasar to stop his dog from jumping.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan understands the Gus is a high energy dog and knows that Gus will not be a balanced dog if the energy is not released. Cesar teaches Tedd not to hold his front legs when Gus is jumping as the holding is nurturing that behavior. Cesar further shares with them the proper way to walk with Gus. To further help Gus to burn off his energy, Cesar Millan takes them to Long Beach Herding Facility to herd some sheep, since Bouviers are a herding breed. After seeing how much Gus enjoys himself, Tedd and Shellie decide that he will be going weekly for herding training.

Dog Behavior Problems: Ava has only one problem which is when she gets excited, she will twirl non-stop counter clock wise.

Dog Behavior Modification: Before Cesar Millan meets Ava, he scares that it could be due to neurological problem that is beyond his expertise and needs medication. After talking to Nadia, Cesar Millan confirms that this is not neurological problem but in sense of consistency in exercise and discipline. Cesar further explain that twirling is the side effect of lack of exercise. Cesar begins the exercise with the leash higher up to the neck of Ava. With this, Ava is not able to spin around as she is control by leash.


Episode 9: Churchill and Maya (Raging Rottie and The Little Rascal)

Name: Churchil
Owners: Amir and Stephanie Kaspian

Dog Behavior Problems: Initially Churchill only has dog to dog aggression problem. The situation turns worse when he bit a neighbor who was petting him. Amir and Stephanie do not have good time walking with Churchill as they have to choose very early morning or very late in the evening to walk him because they scare that Churchill will act aggressive toward other dogs. Many dog trainers that Amir has come across gave impression that Churchil is too late to socialize with other dogs.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan wants to talk a walk with Churchil without the present of Amir and Stephanie. The reason is Churchil could feel more powerful and more aggressive when Amir or Stephanie is around. Within two minutes Cesar has Churchill walking with one of his own dogs. He demonstrates that the key is having control immediately and not allowing the aggression to escalate; a calm, assertive energy is essential. Cesar also explains that dog is always not the problem and yes, he develops the issue. The problem is always with the human who do not understand how to train their dog. Then, Cesar allows them to handle Churchill and change different dogs to let him familiarize and he needs to know that he has to be calm-submissive.

Owners: Athena Blakely and her two daughters, Destiny and Arielle

Dog Behavior Problems: Maya has a lot of problems at home. For example, jump at their owners on the bed in the morning, search for things at trash, chew Destiny's toys, dig holes at garden and more. Cesar is called to help to stop the dog from digging holes and other problems.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan explains to them that Maya is bored in the house as she is always confined inside the house. Cesar says that they need to provide Maya with ability to go outside and exercise. After Maya has enough exercise, all the problems that he created will be decreasing and then disappear. He teaches them how to give Maya a physical challenge by walking with her. Three weeks later, Cesar returns to check on Maya's progress, which has been significant. He brings a backpack for Maya, the weight gives a more strenuous workout, and to give her the sense of having a job to do, which helps to focus and motivate her.


EP 10: Bubba and Garret (The Good, the Bad and Catch It If You Can)

Owners: Heidi and Hal Wasserman

Dog Behavior Problems: Heidi and Hal Wasserman are running small business at home. Their dog - Bubba greets their customers beautifully but attacks them as soon as they are leaving. Besides, he also attacks other dogs. Bubba also obsesses with licking Heidi's hand.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar explains that Bubba has empowered their life. They give Bubba anything he wants for 9 years and they are seeing Bubba as their son instead of their dog. Cesar simulates the situation where he is going to leave the house. Once Bubba starts to bark, Cesar will "torch" with 2 fingers and then put him into sitting position. Cesar also does the same with with getting a dog near Bubba. Cesar further explains that this behavior will not change overnight as they have allowed this to happen for 9 years, so, discipline for a couple of months is required.

Dog Behavior Problems: Garret likes to chase his own tail by spinning around for over 7 years.

Dog Behavior Modification: Cesar Millan explains that Garret is German Shepherd breed which is a working dog. So, he needs a powerful walk daily with calm submissive state of mind. Sheila walks Garret daily but her walking style is not effective. Garret has to follow Sheila in stead of the opposite. Cesar teaches them to pull the leash up the moment Garret shows anxious behavior. Cesar further adds backpack with some weight to him, so that Garret feels that he has some purpose. With the backpack, Garret is brought to their backyard and he shows the behavior again and Cesar corrects him instantly.
