Pugs are clowns wearing a black "Mask". Really!

They have fun personality with clearly black marking over muzzle and eyes which looks like a black mask. Their other names are Mops, Carlin, Dutch Bulldog and Mini Mastiff.

These black mask dogs have gentle, playful, extrovert nature. They are sociable companion dogs that like to please their owners and good with children. Therefore, Pugs are one of the most wanted family dogs. Do not get cheated with their dumb-looking face, these dogs are clever! They are well-known to be able to perform dog training tricks.

The most common coat colors are fawn and black. This cute little sheds but it requires little grooming due to its short coat. Their small-size body makes them wonderful dogs for living in apartment or condominium and requires little exercise.

But often, Pugs are stubborn on certain things. So, you will need to be patient in teaching pug puppy training especially obedience training and house training.

The Pug is a small breed of dog with a wrinkly, short muzzled face. Its name may come from the Old English word which has the meaning playful little devil or monkey. It was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1885. It is one of the largest member among all the Toy Dog Breeds.

History and Origins
These Dutch Bulldogs are not from Dutch! They were originating from China. During the Shang dynasty (1600-1046 BC), in East China, they were known as "Lo-Chiang-Sze" or "Foo". Dutch Bulldogs' popularity spread to Tibet, where they were mainly kept by monks, and then went onto Japan, and finally Europe.

The breed was first imported in the late 16th and 17th centuries by merchants and crews from the Dutch East Indies Trading Company and the popularity continued to spread in France during the eighteenth century. Dutch Bulldogs arrived in the United States during the nineteenth century (the American Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1885) and was soon making its way into the family home and show ring.

Together with
Pomeranian and Bichon Frise, Pug is categorized as Toy Group under The Kennel Club (UK).

However for the American Kennel Club (AKC), Pug and Pomeranian are in Top Group while Bichon Frise is placed under Non-sporting Group.

Living Condition
Pug can live happily in small apartments or condominiums. They are companion dogs that should be living inside the house.

Exercise
All dogs require exercise. You are advised to walk with your little Pug about 45 minutes daily before you teach your pug puppy training. Without exercise, your dog might develop health problems such as obesity.

Shedding
Pugs do shed but not as much as other long-haired dog breeds.

General Appearance
Pug has a square, cobby body, a compact form, a deep chest, and well-developed muscle. The legs are very strong, straight, of moderate length, and are set well under. The shoulders are moderately laid back.

Coat and Color
Pug dog has fine and glossy coats with color fawn, apricot, silver or black. But fawn and black are more common.

Size
Height: 12.0 - 14.0 inches (30.0 - 36.0 cm)
Weight: 14.0 -18.0 pounds (6.0 - 8.0 kg)

Average Life Span
12 - 15 years

Average Litter Size
2 - 5 puppies

Characteristics/Temperaments and Energy level
Pugs have even-tempered breed, exhibiting stability, playfulness, great charm, dignity, and an outgoing, loving disposition. Therefore, they get along well with other dogs, pets and children. They are known to succeed in dog obedience training as well. So, pug training is not much a problem.

Pugs are sensitive to the tone of a human voice and they generally prefer the company of humans and require a great deal of human attention. They may develop separation anxiety if their owners left them even just for a while. But if you give him the Right Pug puppy training, this issue could reduce to none.

Pug Puppy Training is essential to be learned by every Pug dog owners. The key to develop a well-balanced Pug in your house is by setting rules for him to follow the moment you bring him into your house.

Dogs are pack animals and there will be a leader in every pack. You need to act as pack leader and he needs to follow you every moment. In addition to that, Pugs have the stubborn personality. Without proper obedience training, this could develop into dog behavior problems such as separation anxiety, biting problem, and etc.

You can start off with pug house training. With potty training, your Pug will learn where should he eliminates and where he should not. You may record the progress and give a lot of praise when he has done a good job. You may continue with crate training when the timing is right. With Consistency and Patience, your Pug will be house trained in no time.
