Rottweiler Dog Breed is a powerful dog that has a strong muscular body.


Although some people may have the impression that Rottie as an aggressive dog breed, Rottie can be gentle if you know how to obedient training them. Most of the time a dog becomes aggressive only when he is not trained and handled in the proper way.

Police has made a good use of Rottweiler because of their intelligence, endurance and willing to work. Like Golden Retriever dog breed and German Shepherd dog breed, this breed has helped people in many areas such as herding, guarding, service and etc.

Like any other dogs, this breed needs exercise. Rott can become obese easily and further develop hearth problems if lack of exercise. The grooming on Rottweiler is easily done as they have short hair and smooth-coated.

Rottweiler a medium to large size, strong dog breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is named after a town in the south west of Germany called Rottweil. It, as a butcher's dog, was used to pull carts to carry meat and other products to market. Rottweiler dog breed has abundant strength which is well suited to being a companion, service and working dog. It is also one of the very intelligent dog breeds. This dog has been use in Search and Rescue, Guard dogs for blind and police dogs. It has many other names like Rottie, Rott and Weily.

History and Origins
Rottweilers are the oldest herding breeds. They are capable to working all kinds of livestock under wide variety of condition. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire.

The principal ancestors of the first Rottweiler during this time were supposed to be the Roman droving dog. The first Rottweiler club in Germany was created the 13 January 1907. The build up to World War I saw a great demand for police dogs, and that led to a revival of interest in Rottie. The breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1935. In the mid 1990s, the popularity of the Rottie reached an all time high with it being the 1st most registered dog by the American Kennel Club.

Living Condition
A big dog breed like Rottie needs some spaces to live comfortably. They can either live inside your house or live in a dog house outside your house. They are okay with apartment life but they will feel more comfortable with a landed house that has a small yard.

Exercise
Exercise is a must for Rottweiler dog breed. If they do not get enough exercise, they might develop dog obesity problems. Take your Rott out for 45 minutes daily walk will keep your dog fit and healthy.

Shedding
All dogs shed. This breed is an average shedder but the grooming is easy as he has short hair.

Rottweiler dog breed has a broad Head with rounded forehead and strong muzzle teeth. Eyes are dark with orangey brown. Ears are triangular shape which carried forward and folded slightly. natural bob tailed. It has straight and heavy bone limbs.

Coat is Short, hard, thick and double coated. Black and tan or black and mahogany (yellow marking above the eyes, on the cheeks, muzzle, chest and legs).

When you are looking for tips and techniques on Rottweiler Puppy Training, the first question that you need to ask yourself is how much do you want to help you dog?

  • Are you going to give a lot of affection to your dog and do not really want to learn on training your dog as you think that dog is not supposed to be trained?

  • Are you going give some training with your dog but allow him to be spoilt sometime when you like.

  • Are you going to be an assertive pack leader and make sure that your dog well behaved all the time.
If you are A, you are actually satisfying your Needs and now what your dog needs. Giving a lot of affection to your dog makes you happy but if you give affection at the wrong time, this will cause your dog to develop behavior issue in a long term. If you are B, you are training your dog but not consistent enough. You dog might confuse on what you want from him and when you want from him. So, don't be surprise that your dog might not obey you 100% of the time. It is not because he does not want to obey you, but he does not understand you. If you are C, Congrats! You are a responsible dog owner. All dogs need an assertive pack leader to guide them. It is not saying that you can not give affection to your dog. You need to learn to balance the affection with puppy training and exercise. But, affection is only given to your dog when he has done something good.
