Yorkshire Terrier gets its name from a historical place in England. It has the nick name "Yorkie" and it is a small dog breed.

History and Origins
It is originated from Yorkshire, England in the 1800s.

Yorkie was introduced in the United States in 1872 and the first Yorkie was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1878, making it one of the first twenty-five breeds to be approved for registration by the AKC.

Group
Together with Pekingese dog breed and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Dog Breed, Yorkie is recognized as Toy Group under both American Kennel Club (AKC) and The Kennel Club (UK).

Living Condition
Yorkie is a small dog breed that will be doing fine without a yard. You also will expect them to do well in apartment or condominium live. Please be informed that this breed is sensitive to cold weather.

Exercise

Yorkie has small head and its body is well balanced and very compact. Forelegs should be straight. His tail is usually medium length and higher than the level of the back. His muzzle is short, nose is black, eyes are expressive with dark color. Yorkie also has small attractive V-shaped erect ears.

Coat and Color
Coats for Yorkie are different between puppy and adult dog. When Yorkie is a puppy, its coat is black with tan points. In a couple of months or years, Adult Yorkie's coat slowly changes to black and tan, blue and tan, blue and gold, or black and gold.

Adult Yorkie's hair must be glossy, fine, straight, and silky.

Its coat believed to be Hypoallergenic - that is people who are allergic to other dog breeds find to be safer with Yorkie.
